Microsoft has confirmed that Fable will no longer launch in 2026. The highly anticipated reboot is now scheduled to arrive in February 2027.
Rumors about an internal delay surfaced earlier, with reports suggesting that the game had been pushed back to avoid releasing too close to GTA 6. At the time, a developer dismissed those claims and reassured fans that the game was still targeting an Autumn 2026 launch. However, the latest announcement confirms that the delay is real.
In a post on X, Xbox stated that the decision was made so the game could «have the dedicated moment it deserves». The company also revealed that players can expect a new look at Fable during the Xbox Showcase in June 2027.
A specific release date has not been announced yet, with the developers only providing a launch window. Expectations for more news had recently increased after the game appeared on a Korean ratings board.
Even with Fable moved to 2027, Xbox still has a packed lineup ahead, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Grand Theft Auto VI. The company will host an Xbox Games Showcase alongside a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day presentation on June 7, 2026.
It has also been reported that Blizzard’s cinematics team is assisting with Fable’s development. Meanwhile, a Nintendo Switch 2 version has not been officially confirmed, though the possibility is reportedly being considered.
