Insider Tom Henderson shared concerning details about Far Cry 7 during the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, claiming that the game’s development is “going through hell.” According to him, the project has good ideas and stuff, but is currently a complete mess, and is still at least a couple of years away from release.
Very little is officially known about the game. Earlier reports suggested it could feature a 24-hour time limit similar to Dead Rising, while the story would revolve around the Bennets family and their Succession-style power struggle. The extraction shooter concept mentioned in earlier leaks has reportedly either been spun off into a separate project or reworked into a mode within the main game.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated back in 2025 that the company aims to push multiplayer elements more strongly so players can stay engaged with the game for a longer time.
Henderson also commented on Ubisoft’s broader lineup. He said that if everything goes according to plan, the next major title after the Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag remake will be a new Ghost Recon, which is considered a “crucial series” for the company’s next fiscal year. Meanwhile, the rumored Rayman Legends remake is said to be going well.

Guillemot also noted earlier this year that Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition is only the “first step” in reviving the franchise, with more announcements coming soon, calling it a “landmark franchise.”
Ubisoft has also reassured fans that the Splinter Cell remake remains safe following the cancellation of Prince of Persia Sands of Time.
However, Henderson and co-host Mike Straw were unable to verify reports that the Prince of Persia The Lost Crown team has regrouped for a new project after layoffs. “Let’s just say there are some weird things with Prince of Persia that make that report not make sense,” Henderson said.
Additionally, Henderson claimed in February that the studio is working on a director’s cut of Watch Dogs Legion, describing it as a kind of remaster with new content and additional motion capture. “They’re kind of doing the low-hanging fruit until they sort things out across the company,” he explained.
