FIFA has officially announced an updated version of its long-term Digital Football Strategy.

The biggest change is the transition from a single exclusive partnership model to a multi-partner ecosystem structure. According to FIFA, this new approach will help expand the organization’s reach and strengthen its presence across multiple gaming genres ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

FIFA’s new gaming portfolio already includes partnerships with companies such as Roblox, Epic Games, Konami, SEGA / Sports Interactive, Gamefam, Mythical Games, and Solace Games.

The strategy spans a broad range of products — from hyper-casual games to professional esports under the FIFAe brand — while aiming to maintain low entry barriers and unified global standards for players and national associations.

FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström stated that building a scalable gaming and esports foundation creates new opportunities for interaction between FIFA’s 211 national associations and commercial partners. The organization’s goal is to establish a sustainable and adaptable ecosystem aligned with modern football industry trends.

FIFA’s Current Digital Performance

  • Roblox Project: FIFA Super Soccer, developed with Gamefam, has become the largest branded project on Roblox with more than 10 million monthly active users and over 1 billion game launches.
  • Mobile Gaming: FIFA Rivals has surpassed 2.5 million downloads, while also integrating commercial partners such as adidas.
  • Esports (FIFAe): More than 16 million players from over 120 national associations participated in qualification tournaments on eFootball by Konami. Tournament broadcasts generated more than 1.1 billion views last year.

Upcoming FIFA Projects

As part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the organization is planning several major launches and announcements:

  • New game by Netflix and Delphi Interactive: Details of the updated football simulator will be revealed in June. The release of FIFA World Cup – Launch Edition will serve as the foundation for future expansion across consoles, PC, and mobile platforms.
  • FIFA Heroes: A new game planned for release on mobile devices and PC, with console versions arriving later.
  • Non-simulation projects: FIFA plans to expand its product lineup by combining football with broader entertainment industries and well-known cultural franchises.
  • FIFAe tournaments: Five FIFAe Continental Championships will act as qualifiers for the FIFAe Finals 2026.
  • FIFAe Festival: FIFA will also announce the host city for the first-ever FIFAe Festival, an event designed to unite traditional and digital football in a new hybrid format.

Reminder: Call of Duty: Warzone will end support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.
