After a difficult start to the 2026 season, where the team finished in the bottom half of the standings twice in a row (eighth and seventh places), the legendary esports organization Fnatic is gearing up for the Summer Split with a revamped roster and high ambitions. The team's new toplaner, 22-year-old Lim "Soboro" Seong-min, gave an exclusive interview where he talked about his adaptation to the LEC, the team atmosphere, and the main goals for the remainder of the year.
Following a short and challenging stint with Invictus Gaming in the Chinese LPL (a 12-28 record and losing his starting spot during the second split), Soboro arrived in Europe with a strong desire to prove his worth. According to him, he enjoys living in Berlin and competing in the LEC, and the organization provides maximum support.
Soboro is especially happy to reunite with support Park "Lospa" Jun-hyeong, whom he played with in Gen.G Academy in 2021. Their long-standing acquaintance makes communication much easier. Soboro is also actively continuing to study English to improve synergy with the other players on the roster—Razork, Vladi, and Upset.
Assessing the reasons for Fnatic's previous failures, Soboro noted that the team lacked cohesion and had issues with their drafts. However, the situation has now changed drastically.
Current state of the team:
Fnatic's main goal for the Summer Split is to return to the top of European League of Legends. Soboro has set himself the task of breaking the dominance of the region's leaders—G2 Esports and Karmine Corp. He is particularly looking forward to facing KC, as that is where his idol, former T1 toplaner Canna, is currently playing.
Personally, Soboro's goal is to make the All-Pro Team of the split and earn the status of the best toplaner in the league by the end of the season. Currently, following a forced break in his career, he modestly evaluates himself as a top-4 player in the European region.
Answering a question about the pressure that comes with Fnatic's immense history, Soboro noted that his experience playing for an equally popular team like Invictus Gaming toughened him up. He does not feel nervous and is ready to live up to expectations.
"Fnatic is a team full of incredibly talented players. Our practice process is going very well, and the coaches set a high bar. If you support us, we will repay you with corresponding results," Soboro said, addressing the organization's fans.
Regarding his future after his contract expires in the autumn, the player does not rule out a long-term stay in the West if he can build a successful career with a team contending for the highest titles.
