The new free-to-play online football game GOALS has officially launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The release coincides with the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The game’s development took more than three years following a $20 million investment round in April 2023 led by venture firm Seven Seven Six, founded by Alexis Ohanian. The project is positioned as a competitor to franchises such as EA Sports FC and eFootball, offering adaptive cross-platform gameplay.

The project is led by CEO Andreas “bds” Thorstensson, a former professional Counter-Strike player. The game is built on his proprietary engine, SENTEC.

At the core of the gameplay is full player control over every movement, with a strong emphasis on precision passing, shooting, and tackling, without the use of artificial difficulty balancing mechanics.

GOALS also introduces a system for generating and developing athletes, allowing each club to feature unique players who improve their attributes over time. Additionally, the game includes a category called “Originals” — real-world public figures who evolve under a separate progression system. The first confirmed character is popular content creator and football fan KSI.

As a reminder, PUBG Mobile recently announced a major collaboration with Ferrari.
