There is a possibility that former Perfect Dark developer Drew Murray is currently working on a StarCraft shooter at Blizzard, a project that has been rumored for quite some time. This could be another sign that the unannounced sci-fi title is moving beyond its early development stage.
In a recent episode of «The Xbox Two Podcast», Jez Corden stated that, according to his information, Murray has joined a new project, though he noted he cannot fully confirm it is related to StarCraft.

«I’ve heard that he’s working on the StarCraft shooter. Don’t know if it’s true or if he’s working on something else, but he is at Blizzard, and I have heard he’s working on that», — Corden said.
Murray’s LinkedIn confirms he has been working at Blizzard since January as an associate design director. He is also known for his work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and other AAA projects, highlighting his extensive experience in major game development.
Rumors about a StarCraft shooter first surfaced in September 2024, when Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that the project was led by Far Cry veteran Dan Hay. At the time, it was said to be in very early development.
It remains unclear whether this project is connected to another rumored StarCraft shooter reportedly in development at Nexon. However, Blizzard previously posted a job listing for a Lead Designer for a AAA shooter requiring experience with Unreal Engine, which could further hint at ongoing development.
The game could potentially be revealed at BlizzCon 2026, scheduled for September 12 and 13, although an earlier announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase is also possible.
