Microsoft has confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are not planned for PlayStation 5 and are not timed Xbox exclusives.
The clarification came shortly after Xbox Games Showcase, where the company stated that both titles are intended to remain exclusive to the Xbox console ecosystem. At the same time, previously announced multiplatform games, including Halo: Campaign Evolved and Forza Horizon 6, will still launch on other platforms as originally planned.

Microsoft said:
«As part of our focus on the return of Xbox, we also announced that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be Xbox console exclusives».
«These are not timed exclusives. Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan. We’re committed to investing in and growing Xbox both on console and beyond».
The announcement stands out because several major Xbox titles in recent years, including Indiana Jones and Starfield, eventually made their way to PS5 after their initial release.
The decision follows comments from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who recently emphasized the importance of exclusive content for the platform's future.
Following Xbox Games Showcase, Sharma wrote:
«We want people to choose Xbox because of great games and experiences. That also means giving you something that was made for Xbox».
Speaking at Bloomberg Live earlier this week, Sharma explained that Xbox is trying to balance the benefits of reaching larger audiences with the need to maintain platform-exclusive content.
«It’s a tough topic. We’re the number two publisher in the world, and in order to be a great publisher, you must have your games reach large audiences».
«At the same time, we’re increasingly becoming a platform, and in order to become a platform, you must have exclusive content and services».
«We have to be very thoughtful about each title, learn from similar situations across the industry, and decide what makes the most sense. That’s exactly what we’re doing».
