Gen.G secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Invictus Gaming (IG) in the Worlds 2026 semifinals. With this triumph, the LCK champions became the first grand finalists of the tournament. The team has not dropped a single series at the championship, and Gen.G's jungler Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu was named the MVP of the match.

Despite IG fielding the legendary TheShy and Rookie—2018 world champions who led the team to their first semifinal since 2019—Gen.G controlled the pace of the series. In the first game, Canyon delivered a brilliant performance on Qiyana, participating in almost every team fight and creating the pressure that allowed his team to take over the map and open the score.

The second game was completely dominated by Gen.G's top-jungle duo. Kiin's Gwen, supported by Canyon on Lee Sin, secured a quick lead for the team, leaving their opponents with no chances. A standout moment occurred in the bot lane when Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk successfully survived a two-man dive from IG, picked up a double kill, and walked away alive.

The third map proved to be the toughest for the Korean squad. IG dominated most of the game: Rookie controlled the map on Locke, TheShy played confidently on Gnar, and the Chinese team secured the Mountain Soul. The turning point came when Ruler claimed a 1,000-gold bounty for killing TheShy. After that, his Yunara began to take over the team fights. Around the 40-minute mark, Gen.G picked off the IG players one by one and ended the match with a direct push down the mid lane.

Reaching the final is a historic milestone for Gen.G, as the organization will play in the tournament's decisive match for the first time since 2017, when it was still known as Samsung Galaxy. It is a symbolic return for Ruler, who played in the 2016 and 2017 finals under this exact structure. For Canyon, this is also his third World Championship final (after 2020 and 2021), while Kiin, Duro, and the star Chovy, who has dominated the LCK since 2022, have reached the first grand final of their careers.

In the decisive match, scheduled for November 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Gen.G will face the winner of the clash between T1 and BLG, which will take place overnight into Monday, EET.
