GSC Game World has issued an official statement regarding the funding of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. This comes in response to comments made by company founder Sergiy Grygorovych on the OLDBoi podcast, where he claimed that the deal with Xbox allegedly covered the entire development budget before active production even began.
In a statement to Insider Gaming, GSC representatives explained that they felt compelled to respond so that continued silence would not be perceived as confirmation of false rumors. The studio emphasized that, under existing agreements, Grygorovych was involved neither in negotiations with partners nor in the actual development process throughout the game's entire production cycle. Consequently, his public remarks do not reflect the actual state of affairs.
The company highlighted that the main financial burden of development was carried by studio owner Max Krippa, who funded the majority of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 budget. The developers expressed their sincere gratitude to him, as well as to all partners, players, and defenders of Ukraine, who made the release possible.
