Since 2018, Hasbro has invested nearly $1 billion into developing its own video games while completely moving away from the live-service model.

According to CEO Chris Cocks, the company established an internal publishing division and founded six gaming studios as part of this strategy. Their goal is to create projects capable of competing with the biggest franchises in the industry.

The first release under this initiative will be the sci-fi RPG Exodus from Archetype Entertainment. Cocks described the project as “D&D in space,” with the game currently scheduled for release in 2027.

In addition, Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, developed by Invoke Studios, is also planned for release in 2027.

Hasbro’s focus on traditional single-player games for PC and consoles contrasts with the company’s previous success in the mobile gaming market, particularly the highly profitable Monopoly Go project.

Going forward, Hasbro’s new publishing division plans to primarily release action games and RPGs for PC and consoles. The company will focus on its major franchises, including:

  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Magic: The Gathering
  • Transformers
  • New original IPs

As a reminder, the creators of Splitgate recently unveiled the Titanfall-inspired shooter EMPULSE.
