Hazelight founder Josef Fares has confirmed that the studio is continuing development on its next game following the success of the co-op hits It Takes Two and Split Fiction.
he project has been in production since February 2025. At the time, Fares said the game was still at an early stage, but the team was confident it could turn out significantly better than their previous work. Recently, Hazelight shared a new social media post with a playful message:
«We’re back in the kitchen, cooking up something really delicious!».
Fares also posted a photo from the studio, captioning it:
«Next game in the making».
Hazelight jokingly added that the image features «Strategic Arm Placement Tech», as the developer’s arm is deliberately blocking the faces of other people in the frame.
According to Fares, the team does not feel pressured by the success of Split Fiction:
«It’s not like we’re sitting here thinking, "Oh shit, how are we going to top Split Fiction or do something better" We just feel like… wait and see what we do next. I know it sounds cocky, but that’s how confident we are in what we’re creating».
All of Hazelight’s games so far have been co-op experiences. Fares emphasized that co-op remains part of the studio’s DNA, though he did not rule out experimenting with single-player in the future.
«You never know what might happen in the future. It’s not impossible that we’ll look into single-player as well. But it would be done in a Hazelight way, with a Hazelight twist. It’s definitely not going to be a typical single-player game», — Fares added.
