Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima continues to surprise fans beyond just video games. This time, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding series made an unexpected appearance in Episode 11 of Season 2 of the popular Japanese drama series VIVANT.

However, recognizing him was no easy task. In the series, Kojima made a cameo as Tokyo Police Chief Ken Watanuki. The character appears only in a photograph shown in one of the scenes, and his appearance differs significantly from his usual look.

Following the episode's release, Kojima himself revealed on X that specifically for the role, he took off his glasses, combed his hair back, and put on a fitting suit. However, the show's creators decided to go even further. According to the game designer, because the police chief needed to look older, and officials in such positions in Japan usually do not wear beards, his facial hair was completely removed using computer graphics.

Because of this, most viewers had no idea that Hideo Kojima was on screen. Following his post on X, fans began rewatching the episode en masse, with social media users joking that only "true agents" could have spotted the cameo on their first viewing.

Interestingly, this is far from Kojima's first appearance in movies or TV shows. Long known for his deep passion for cinema, he regularly collaborates with actors and directors and occasionally makes cameo appearances in various film projects himself.

It seems that this time, the legendary game designer transformed into a police chief so convincingly that even his most devoted fans failed to recognize him at first glance.
