REANIMAL rewards exploration, and some of its secrets are easily missed — small spider-like creatures called critters scattered across the game. They are not part of the main story, but defeating all of them unlocks masks and the Critter Hit Kill achievement. Many critters hide off the main path or in dark corners, making a guide helpful. Here’s a complete list of critter locations across all chapters.
There are five critters in total, each granting a unique mask.
Critter 1 (Chapter 2: The Cleansing House)
After reaching the village and acquiring the Crowbar, return to the front of the Cinema. Look to the right at a boarded-up door on the broken road. Inside, a critter hides under a traffic cone. Use the Crowbar or Knife to defeat it and receive the Cone Head mask.
Critter 2 (Chapter 3: After the Flood)
After the boat section, climb the long ladder to a flower field. Go left toward a distant scarecrow. Hit the scarecrow with a melee weapon; a critter will fall out. Defeat it to get the Deer Head mask.
Critter 3 (Chapter 4: No Shelter)
After the bus ride, reach the Orphanage. With the front door locked, climb the side ladders to enter through a large clock. Crouch through the bookshelf to find a secret room. Upon exiting, a critter appears — defeat it to earn the Bucket Head mask.
Critter 4 (Chapter 6: Nobody Left Behind)
Enter the military bunker, reach the balcony, and start the generator. Push the crate with a fish picture to spawn the critter. Then descend the ladder to the leftmost part of the beach and eliminate the critter to get the Fish Head mask.
Critter 5 (Chapter 8: The Watcher)
In the room with hanging soldiers, take the key and open the oven with a Crowbar to release a critter. Follow it back into the room and shoot it to obtain the Gas Head mask.
★ Defeating all five critters unlocks the Critter Hit Kill achievement in REANIMAL.
