French defender Jules Koundé, who plays for FC Barcelona and the France national football team, shared a photo of the gaming console he brought with him to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
Rather than opting for a current-generation console or a high-end gaming laptop, Koundé chose to bring the legendary retro console PlayStation, which was originally released in the mid-1990s.
Koundé’s choice surprised many fans, especially considering that professional footballers often travel with specialized gaming cases equipped with built-in monitors and modern consoles. Such setups are commonly taken to training camps and away tournaments.
