Multiplayer is coming to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, but not in an official form. The modding community is working on the multiplayer component, and although the project is still in an early stage, the first demonstrations already look promising. While the project is still in its early stages, the first footage already shows strong potential.
Reddit user ddesoo recently shared gameplay from a new multiplayer mod for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The video features one player chasing another who controls Henry, although the character model is still missing full textures. Some minor lag is visible, but this is expected given the technical complexity of adding multiplayer at such an early development phase.
This is far from a solo effort. The modder has published the project’s code on GitHub, inviting others to contribute and significantly accelerating progress.
Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many players excited about the multiplayer potential. Some, however, raised technical questions, such as what happens when players leave the same in game area. In response, the modder explained that players would temporarily go out of sync, but the long term plan is to destroy all entities and stream them from one players world so it will sync correctly and to have it more sandbox.
Because Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was never designed with multiplayer in mind, implementing a network framework is a major challenge. Similar projects have appeared in the past, including Skyrim Together, which took years to become stable and enjoyable. As a result, players should not expect a finished multiplayer experience anytime soon, but it remains a project worth following.
Last year, Warhorse Studios released official modding tools, showing clear support for content creators. In just over a year, the number of mods for the sequel has already surpassed the original on Nexus Mods. Although the full potential of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 mods has yet to be realized, the growing community highlights the long term benefits of strong developer support for modding.
