New rumors are circulating about a potential expansion of Microsoft’s subscription service Xbox Game Pass. The proposed lower priced tier may reportedly include only games from Xbox’s internal studios.

According to reports, Asha Sharma, the new head of Microsoft Gaming, is actively pushing this idea to attract more users. There are also claims that she suggested a bundled subscription with Netflix.

While Xbox has not officially commented, dataminer redphx reportedly discovered files referencing a plan codenamed Triton. The tier is said to feature only first party titles and exclude new releases.

The list of games includes:

  • DOOM Eternal
  • Dishonored 2
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Gears 5
  • Halo 5
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Hellblade
  • Ori and the Blind Forest
  • State Of Decay 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • DOOM 64
  • Psychonauts
  • Retro Classics

It seems likely that Microsoft will introduce a budget subscription option, possibly even a free ad supported version. However, limiting it to first party titles raises questions, as the catalog is relatively limited. Additionally, earlier reports suggested that day one releases may be reserved for the most expensive tier, making it unclear who the target audience for an older games library would be.
