Following its recently confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 release, CI Games has unveiled a new episode of its Lifting the Veil developer series, offering a closer look at the Battle for Thorngar trailer and revealing additional gameplay footage.
The presentation includes more than two minutes of brand-new gameplay, featuring the first in-depth look at the katana weapon class, several new environments including the Japanese-inspired realm of Yisugen, and multiple intense boss encounters.
The developers also discussed ongoing improvements to the Umbral realm based on community feedback, as well as the studio’s continued collaboration with Epic Games to take advantage of Unreal Engine 5 technology.
«That feedback that then pushes us to go back and forth and back and forth and go into that really granular detail, but then to look at what that feedback can essentially achieve», — said Game Director James Lowe.
«We know that the Umbral could be much more alive, but then, at the end, it's the world of the dead for us. So it's trying to find the right balance, visually speaking, about what is dead, what is on decomposition, what is on rotting, what's trying to find that formula», — he added.
Other highlights include dynamic Umbral encounters designed to boost replayability, expanded character build options, multiple endings shaped by player choices, and even more ambitious boss battles.
Lords of the Fallen II is scheduled to launch this fall on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
