Marvel Studios appears ready to address one of the biggest criticisms of the MCU’s Spider-Man. For years, fans have wanted to see Peter Parker return to his classic street-level role instead of constantly being tied to large-scale Marvel Cinematic Universe events. Spider Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to deliver exactly that.
In a recent interview with Empire, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that the upcoming movie will focus on the character’s «classic elements» while moving away from advanced Stark technology and multiverse-driven storylines. The goal is to present a more grounded version of Spider-Man.
The story picks up after the events of No Way Home, where Doctor Strange’s spell erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory. With his connections to MJ, Ned, Happy Hogan, and the Avengers gone, Peter is left completely alone and forced to rebuild his life from scratch. He now lives in a small apartment and can no longer rely on the support system he once had.
«He’s doing the Spidey thing of living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner and going out and using his great power responsibly», Kevin Feige explained.
The title Brand New Day is also a direct reference to one of Spider-Man’s most famous comic book relaunches, which similarly focused on a fresh start for Peter Parker after major changes in his life.
While Marvel has yet to officially reveal the film’s main villain, the project has repeatedly been described as a more grounded and neighborhood-focused story. The spotlight will return to ordinary people, personal struggles, and the everyday challenges that have always been central to Spider-Man’s appeal.
Although Tom Holland’s previous trilogy was both a critical and commercial success, many fans felt Peter Parker was often overshadowed by Tony Stark’s influence and Avengers-level conflicts. In Brand New Day, Peter will no longer depend on high-tech suits, billionaire mentors, or world-ending threats. Instead, he will rely on his intelligence, resourcefulness, and courage.
If the movie delivers on its promise and shifts the focus back to personal stakes, Brand New Day could become the Spider-Man film fans have.
