Microsoft has officially raised the prices of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The updated pricing took effect on August 1, marking the third price increase for the Xbox lineup since its launch.
According to VGC, the latest increase is primarily driven by the ongoing global DRAM shortage, which continues to impact the technology industry. The shortage began in late 2025 after demand for memory surged due to the rapid expansion of AI data centers. While Microsoft's previous price increase was linked to tariffs, the company says this latest adjustment is the result of rising memory costs.
In the European Union, the Xbox Series S 512GB model has increased in price from €349.99 to €499.99. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X with a disc drive now costs €799.99 instead of its previous €599.99.
Other Xbox models have also received price increases. Microsoft has additionally discontinued the 2TB Xbox Series X because of rising production costs. Even with these changes, Sony's PlayStation 5 Pro remains the most expensive current generation console on the market.
