Monster Hunter World has officially surpassed 30 million copies sold since its launch in 2018. Capcom confirmed the new milestone, combining sales of the base game and the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition, which includes the expansion.
«Monster Hunter: World has reached a combined 30 million units sold! A massive thank you to all of you, our faithful pards!», — the official series account announced.
As of March 31 this year, Monster Hunter World had sold 29.6 million units, meaning the game added more than 400,000 additional copies over the past few months. The achievement is especially impressive considering the title was released back in 2018.
Monster Hunter World remains the best selling game in Capcom’s history, even after the publisher released two more mainline entries in the franchise. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has also performed strongly, reaching 16 million units sold as of March last year.
These numbers are even more notable when compared to Monster Hunter Wilds. Despite an explosive launch with over 10 million copies sold in its first month, sales have slowed significantly. As of March 31, 2026, Wilds has reached 11.4 million units sold.
Capcom is still hoping for a resurgence with the upcoming major paid expansion Ascendance, scheduled to release next year. The expansion will introduce a new area called Skybound Eyrie featuring interconnected floating islands, Master Rank quests, new equipment, and the Boost Bracer to enhance attacks.
Elder Dragons will reportedly play a major role in the expansion, with monsters such as Kushala Daora and Lao Shan Lung expected to return. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
