An official price announcement and pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI could arrive very soon, possibly even today. Because of that, discussions about the cost of the industry’s most anticipated game continue to dominate the gaming community.
Some analysts believe GTA 6 should launch above the standard $70 price point. According to them, a price tag of $80 or more could reshape the gaming industry and give major publishers the opportunity to raise prices for their future titles as well. Others argue that Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive would benefit more from keeping the traditional pricing model in order to maximize sales.
To see how players actually feel about a potential price increase, Insider Gaming conducted a poll among listeners of its podcast and asked whether they would buy GTA 6 for $100.
The results were very encouraging for the publisher. More than 80% of participants confirmed that they would still be willing to pay that amount for the new Grand Theft Auto game.
However, Strauss Zelnick previously addressed rumors about a $100 price tag and said that “our plans are much more modest.” For now, fans can only wait for official information regarding the game’s final price.
