Nintendo has announced a series of hardware updates for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its accessories for customers in Europe. Beginning in the summer of 2026, the company will gradually replace current models with revised versions featuring user-replaceable batteries.

The move comes in response to upcoming European battery regulations, which are set to take effect in mid-February 2027. Nintendo emphasized that the hardware revisions will not affect the functionality or overall user experience of the devices.

The regulatory changes will result in several technical updates:

  • The revised Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a 5,172 mAh battery, approximately 1% smaller than the current 5,220 mAh unit.
  • Joy-Con 2 controllers will also be equipped with batteries that users can replace themselves.
  • Minor changes to battery size and overall weight will also affect the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, the Nintendo 64 (N64) Controller for Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo GameCube (GCN) Controller for Nintendo Switch 2.

As a reminder, Bilibili Gaming and Hanwha Life advanced to the upper bracket final of the Mid-Season Invitational 2026.
