After almost 20 years of waiting, the cult Onimusha series has returned with a new installment — Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

In the game, players take control of the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi, who finds himself in a dark fantasy Kyoto and confronts demonic creatures. The main focus is on melee combat, parrying, counterattacks, and spectacular boss fights. The game runs on Capcom's RE Engine and combines a historical setting with mysticism.

At launch, Onimusha: Way of the Sword reached a peak of 47 653 concurrent players on Steam.

At the time of checking, there were about 48 thousand players in the game simultaneously, meaning the figure remains very close to the record.

For a single-player action game, this is a rather strong start. At the same time, the Steam figures do not account for players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, where public concurrent online statistics are unavailable.

Onimusha has returned — and it seems players have been eagerly awaiting this comeback.
