Life simulation game Paralives, which many players already see as a serious competitor to The Sims 4, is showing impressive numbers on Steam despite launching in early access.
The developers thanked the community after the game sold 250,000 copies within the first eight hours of release. The achievement looks even more notable considering the launch happened on a Monday, meaning many players may still be waiting to jump in over the weekend.
Player activity has also been strong. Paralives reached a peak of more than 78,000 concurrent players on launch day, while its daily peak later remained close to 50,000 users online at the same time.
For comparison, InZOI had a similar launch window and reached around 87,000 concurrent players during its first week on Steam. However, the game’s activity later dropped significantly, with recent averages sitting near 3,000 concurrent players.
At the same time, the community has been actively sharing funny glitches from the game’s early access build. Players have posted clips of characters teleporting, getting stuck in place, appearing without skin, or even giving birth in the middle of the street.
Despite the bugs, many fans seem happy with the game’s overall direction. Paralives currently holds an 89% positive rating on Steam. Players have also praised the developers’ promise to avoid paid DLC packs, with future additions such as pets, weather systems, horses, cars, boats, and bicycles planned as free updates during the early access period.
The developers have already warned players to expect some early access issues and confirmed that multiple fixes and quality-of-life improvements are scheduled for the coming months.
As a Reminder, Hello Games releases major The Swarm update for No Man's Sky featuring large-scale space battles.
