The developers of the popular mobile game PUBG Mobile have removed an in-game card titled “Hand of the Almighty” and issued a public apology. The decision came after Muslim players described the content as religiously offensive.

The discussion mainly took place among Muslim players, who believed that the wording crossed a sensitive religious line. The main concern centered around the use of a name directly referencing “Al-Jabbar” — one of the 99 names of Allah in Islam. The name, which translates as “The Almighty” or “The Compeller,” carries deep spiritual significance for millions of believers. Players argued that using such a term in entertainment content was inappropriate.

Of course, not everyone agreed with the criticism. Some Muslim players online argued that the word “Almighty” is a broader English term referring to “God” in general and is not exclusively tied to Islamic usage.

The company responded quickly to the criticism by removing the item on Tuesday and publishing an official statement:

“We sincerely apologize to our players and thank the community for their feedback. We respect the values, traditions, and religious practices of our users and regret the pain we caused. This item has been immediately removed from the game.”

The item had been introduced as part of the collectible card system in the Hero’s Crown update.

As a reminder, NAVI Junior recently lost to Enterprise Esports in the upper bracket final of VALORANT Challengers 2026 NORTH//EAST: Stage 2.
