The developers of PUBG: Battlegrounds have revealed upcoming changes arriving after scheduled server maintenance on May 13.
Currently, regions such as North America, South America, Europe, and Russia use a random map selection system. The developers previously explained that this approach helped matches start faster and reduced the number of bots.
However, they acknowledged that the system isn’t ideal for all players and have received consistent feedback requesting change. While introducing map selection could increase queue times—especially for less popular maps—the team has decided to move forward with the update.
After maintenance on May 13 for PC and May 21 for consoles, all regions in PUBG will gain access to map selection. Players will have five map slots available, with the initial pool matching the current rotation. This pool will later be adjusted based on player preferences and data.
Once map selection becomes available, developers will closely monitor matchmaking performance and player behavior across regions. Based on these observations, further adjustments will be made to map rotations and system parameters.
Previously, a Brazilian company Bignotto released coffins inspired by Super Mario.
