Riot Games has temporarily disabled the selection of Cypher in all game modes of VALORANT. The decision comes after the return of a well-known bug involving his Spycam, which granted players a significant and unintended advantage over their opponents.
The exploit was discovered on May 28, when videos surfaced online showing that players could attach a dropped firearm to Cypher’s camera and fire it remotely. This allowed users to engage enemies from unusual angles while remaining out of danger.
Temporarily disabling agents is a common practice for Riot Games when critical gameplay issues arise. In the past, the developer has also removed Omen and Neon from the game while addressing major bugs. One notable issue allowed Neon’s Fast Lane ability to provide vision through walls, creating an unfair competitive advantage.
Riot Games has not yet announced when Cypher will return to the agent pool, but the character is expected to remain unavailable until a fix is deployed.
As a reminder, 007 First Light sold 1.5 million copies in its first 24 hours, marking a strong launch for developer IO Interactive.
