Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will be available exclusively as a digital download. Despite earlier mentions of a future “physical version,” it will only consist of a plastic case containing a download code inside.
Confusion in the community was sparked by an email from Rockstar support, in which a user inquiry was answered with the statement that players would be able to “purchase a physical copy in the coming months.” The Hollywood Reporter later confirmed the authenticity of the email, but noted that its contents were widely misinterpreted online.
A source familiar with the company’s plans told The Hollywood Reporter that Rockstar has no intention of producing physical discs for GTA VI. The term “physical copy” in the email referred specifically to the aforementioned case containing a download code.
As a reminder, NBA The Run will receive a single-player mode.
