A series of online posts claim that the legendary Ezio Auditore, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed II, may return in the next installment of the franchise, reportedly titled Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
The new game is expected to become the darkest entry in the series, focusing on themes of witchcraft, fear, and persecution.
According to insider leaks from Rogue — previously known for revealing information about Far Cry and XDefiant — the main protagonist of Hexe will be named Anika.
The most notable part of the rumor is the claim that Anika is allegedly a direct descendant of Claudia Auditore, Ezio’s sister. The insider even stated that “Ezio will return 100%,” supposedly acting as a mentor figure for the protagonist.
Despite the excitement, fans have already pointed out a major historical inconsistency. The German witch trials that reportedly serve as the game’s setting took place at least 100 years after Ezio’s death.
As a reminder, Konami recently showcased Neymar transforming into Naruto Uzumaki for the collaboration between eFootball and Naruto: Shippuden.
