According to recent rumors, Konami is planning to change its development strategy for eFootball. The company is reportedly considering a return to a paid model, but in a hybrid format.

As rumored, players could be offered two versions of the game:

  • Free-to-play version: likely the familiar online mode with microtransactions.
  • Premium version: a full-featured edition that may finally include offline modes and other exclusive content.

It is also reported that Konami could test this model on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 before expanding it to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

These rumors surfaced amid news that Konami recently hired around 280 new employees, many of whom are reportedly working specifically on the eFootball project.

At the moment, there has been no official confirmation from Konami.

Earlier, all participants of the Brawl Cup 2026 were confirmed.
