The developers behind SAND: Raiders of Sophie have shared final launch details, including regional pricing and the exact release time for the game.
Players in Ukraine will be able to purchase the game for 315 UAH during the launch period thanks to a 21% discount. Once the promotion ends, the regular price will increase to 399 UAH. SAND: Raiders of Sophie launches today at 5:00 PM.
The team also provided an update on the recent Server Slam event. According to the developers, several closed playtests helped uncover important server-side issues before launch. One of the key problems involved a critical load-balancing error that allowed player counts in individual regions to exceed 1,000 users.
During the weekend stress test, participation surpassed 4,000 players per region, creating unexpected server behavior and exposing the infrastructure to DDoS attacks. The team also discovered a «cascading failure» issue, where outages in one region could negatively affect neighboring regions. A new patch has already been prepared to address these problems.
Developers thanked the community for taking part in the tests and noted that large-scale server issues are often impossible to predict before conducting a Server Slam.
Speaking about the game's price, the studio stated:
«We conducted a survey during the playtests, and most players suggested an MSRP of either $20 or $25. More than 4,000 responses were split almost evenly. As a result, we decided to set the price at $24.99 and launch the game with a 21% discount, bringing the cost to under $20».
