The Ukrainian extraction shooter SAND: Raiders of Sophie continues to evolve after entering early access, as the developers have revealed a detailed roadmap covering the game’s future updates. Released on June 22, the title has already attracted attention thanks to its unusual approach to the genre, distinctive visual style, and unique gameplay loop.

Despite its interesting concept, SAND: Raiders of Sophie is still far from perfect. The game currently has mixed reviews on Steam, but the development team is actively responding to player feedback and maintaining open communication with the community. At the same time, the game has already reached a peak concurrent player count of around 21,000, which is a strong result for a new IP in the challenging extraction shooter genre.

The game’s producer previously shared more details about the project’s development on social media. According to him, the idea behind Raiders of Sophie dates back six years, when the concept first appeared on a Rust server. The original vision was a high-risk PvP survival game with extraction mechanics, but with a unique feature that allowed players to move their own base together with their character.

The newly revealed SAND: Raiders of Sophie roadmap covers multiple stages of development, including upcoming updates and long-term plans from the team.

The upcoming updates planned by the developers include:

  • new Trampler compartments
  • new NPC enemy variations
  • post match summaries
  • player statistics
  • gear based matchmaking
  • a lobby browser

Closer to the end of 2026, the game is expected to receive:

  • more weather conditions and environmental hazards
  • a menu based crafting system
  • colored and labeled item storage
  • world bosses and elite NPCs
  • a ping system
  • new biomes
  • new points of interest
  • additional character models

The team’s long term plans include:

  • a blueprint trading system
  • factions with reputation and quests
  • a clan system
  • an in game item encyclopedia
