Without any mention in the official patch notes, Riot Games quietly updated the popular Ignite Fan melee skin. The three-year-old melee weapon received new dynamic visual effects, sparking a wave of discussion within the VALORANT community ahead of the release of the traditional bundle celebrating the Champions 2026 tournament.
Following the latest update, equipping the Ignite Fan immediately reveals changes tied to the implementation of a new "living" visual effects system:
This is not the first time Riot has improved older premium cosmetic items — the VCT Sigil melee also recently received updated effects. However, updating the fan right now has raised quite a few questions, as devoting developer resources to an old skin right before the release of the most important bundle of the year points to potential testing of new animation technologies under live conditions.
The community has put forward two main hypotheses regarding the Champions 2026 skin:
Based on the release schedules of previous tournament bundles, the Champions 2026 collection is expected to drop tentatively in the middle or second half of September.
Taking into account the appearance of new customization elements (specifically "Trophy Flex" cosmetics) and the evolution of premium bundles, the expected price of the new bundle will range from 6,700 to 6,800 VP.
