SEGA has unveiled a life-size figure of Sonic the Hedgehog that contains artificially created DNA designed to represent the iconic character. The project was created as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the Sonic franchise.

The genetic code was developed in collaboration with LOM BABY, a laboratory known for creating art installations based on fictional biological samples. Previous projects have included artificial dragon meat, alien DNA, and the T-Virus inspired by the Resident Evil series.

To create a unique synthetic DNA sequence that reflected Sonic’s identity, researchers analyzed several defining traits of the character, including:

  • His appearance and personality
  • His trademark super-speed abilities
  • His well-known inability to swim

The resulting synthetic material was placed inside a glowing green Chaos Emerald, which was then embedded in the figure’s abdomen.

The project combines biotechnology-inspired art with one of gaming’s most recognizable mascots, serving as a unique tribute to the franchise’s long history.

As previously reported, PUBG: Battlegrounds has begun beta testing its new Ally Duo mode, which features an AI-powered companion named Ella.
