Gen.G Esports has become the 2026 LoL Champions Korea champion, securing their sixth title in the last four years. In the grand final held on Sunday, September 13, Gen.G defeated Hanwha Life Esports 3:1. Despite losing the first game, the roster led by Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu, and Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk secured three consecutive victories, crushing the reigning Mid-Season Invitational champions.
Hanwha Life Esports, represented by Choi "Zeus" Woo-je and Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, approached the final in strong form. The day prior, on September 12, they eliminated Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok's T1 in the lower bracket final. However, their winning streak came to an end in the decisive match against Gen.G.
Following the season, key Gen.G players received top individual honors. Chovy was named the regular season MVP, while Ruler earned the Finals MVP title for his outstanding performance in the three decisive maps of the grand final.
This triumph definitively cemented Gen.G's status as South Korea's strongest team. Over the past four years, their trophy cabinet has grown to include six LCK titles, two MSI cups, a victory at the 2025 Esports World Cup, and the 2026 LCK Cup.
Despite their total dominance in the domestic league, the World Championship remains Gen.G's main challenge. Historically, the team has struggled at this tournament and has yet to lift the Summoner's Cup, whereas their rivals from T1 have won it three times over the same four-year period.
