Sony has announced another price increase for the PlayStation Plus service, which will take effect on May 20. The company cited “current market conditions” as the reason for the changes. The increase will affect new users in regions where payments are made in U.S. dollars, euros, and British pounds.
This move continues a series of price hikes by Sony, the latest of which was the large-scale increase in PlayStation 5 console prices in March 2026.
Starting at the end of May, the price of the base PS Plus Essential tier for new customers will rise by approximately $1 per month. The updated pricing will be:
Sony has not published a full list of affected countries, but the currencies indicate a direct impact on the markets of the United States, the Eurozone, and the United Kingdom.
Current subscribers will be able to keep their existing rates, but only if their subscription remains uninterrupted. If the subscription expires, is canceled, or the user changes their plan, future renewals will be charged at the new prices.
There are two exceptions to this rule: players in Turkey and India will not receive any protection from the price increase. The new rates for these regions take effect immediately, regardless of the scheduled renewal date.
