Steam continues to set new financial records. According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, Valve’s platform generated $1.7 billion in revenue in September 2026, making it the best September in Steam’s history. The figure is 13% higher than the result recorded in September 2025.

The third quarter of 2026 was also the most successful in Steam’s history. The platform generated around $5.5 billion in revenue over the three month period, up 12% year over year.

Steam has now generated an estimated $16.5 billion during the first nine months of 2026. During the same period last year, the platform brought in $14.5 billion. If the current growth continues, Steam’s annual revenue could surpass $20 billion for the first time.

Valve remains a private company and does not publish official financial reports, meaning these figures are based on analyst estimates. At the same time, Steam’s user base continues to grow. On March 29, 2026, the platform set a new concurrent user record with more than 42.6 million players online at once.

Free to play games with microtransactions remain among Steam’s biggest sources of revenue. Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, PUBG and Dota 2 generated nearly $168 million combined in September, accounting for around 10% of the platform’s total revenue.

Among premium games, Wardogs led the month with nearly $87 million in revenue. The new Onimusha followed with $30.4 million. It is the first major entry in the series in 20 years.

The list of top performing paid games also included The Blood of Dawnwalker, Bodycam, FC 27, How to Fish and Remedy’s Control Resonant, a direct sequel to the 2019 game.

As a Reminder, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, A Plague Tale: Requiem and Seven More Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass on October 15.
