The annual Summer Game Fest showcase in Los Angeles opened with the reveal of the next game in the Resident Evil series, scheduled for release in 2027. Other major projects shown during the event included the massive Ascendance expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, a new game from Fumito Ueda titled Gen Atlas, and fresh looks at Stranger Than Heaven and Star Wars: Zero Company.
The presentation concluded with the announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third and final installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
Capcom officially unveiled Resident Evil: Veronica, presenting the project's debut trailer. The new entry in the iconic franchise is set for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Appearing on stage with a puppet, the developers at Studio MDHR announced:
“Our talented team is hard at work on this ambitious project.”
No platforms or release date have been revealed yet. The studio also announced another title, Mighty Cuphead Adventure, described as a “fast-paced run-and-gun platformer” being developed by a smaller internal team.
Creative Assembly delighted fans with the first trailer for Alien Isolation 2. According to the game's creative director:
“It's been 12 years since we released Alien Isolation, and we're continuing what we started.”
The sequel is planned for Xbox, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The event featured the premiere of the first trailer for Fumito Ueda’s next project. Previously known under the codename Project Robot, the game is now officially titled Gen Atlas. It is planned for release on the Epic Games Store as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Studio 24 Entertainment is developing Blood Message, a new game set in Ancient China. Attendees at Summer Game Fest Play Days were given the exclusive opportunity to play the game before anyone else.
