TEKKEN 8 Tournament Kicks Off in Paris at Esports World Cup 2026: $1M Prize Pool, Format, and Key Favorites

From August 5 to 8, Paris will become the center of the global fighting game scene — it is here, as part of the Esports World Cup 2026, that one of the season's most anticipated TEKKEN 8 tournaments will take place. 32 of the world's strongest players will compete for the championship title, having earned the right to perform on the year's main stage through successful performances at major international tournaments, including the TEKKEN World Tour, EVO, DreamHack, Combo Breaker, and other prestigious competitions.

On the line is a prize pool of $1,000,000. The champion will not only earn $250,000 but will also automatically receive a spot at the TEKKEN World Tour Finals 2026, as well as the maximum amount of Esports World Cup Club Points.

The championship will last four days and consist of three stages:

• August 5–6 — First Group Stage: All 32 participants will be divided into four groups, playing in a double-elimination format. The top four players from each group will advance to the next stage.
• August 7 — Second Group Stage: The top sixteen participants will form two new groups, which will determine the eight finalists of the tournament.
• August 8 — Playoffs: The top eight players will contest the championship title in a single-elimination bracket. A third-place match will also be held. All final stage matches will be played in a First-to-Five format (first to five wins).

This year's player lineup is considered one of the strongest in the history of the discipline. Several players stand out among the main favorites:

ULSAN approaches the tournament as the reigning two-time Esports World Cup TEKKEN 8 champion. The Korean esports player won the tournament in 2024 and 2025, and this season he will attempt to secure a historic third consecutive title.

An equally dangerous opponent will be Arslan Ash. The legendary representative from Pakistan is an eight-time EVO champion and arrives in Paris following his triumph at EVO Las Vegas 2026, making him one of the top contenders for victory.

Knee, one of the most famous players in TEKKEN history, is also ready to join the battle for the title. On the eve of the Esports World Cup, he secured a victory at VSFighting XIV and is in excellent form.

ATIF is also named among the contenders for top places, regularly demonstrating consistent results at major international tournaments. In the 2026 season, he became the runner-up at Combo Breaker, and a year earlier took second place at EVO Las Vegas 2025.

Another strong candidate is Rangchu — the TEKKEN World Tour 2024 champion. After switching to the character Fahkumram, he won silver medals at EVO Las Vegas 2026 and reached the top 8 at Combo Breaker 2026.

The organizers have prepared one of the largest prize pools in fighting games — $1,000,000:

• 1st place — $250,000, 1,000 EWC Club Points, and a slot at TEKKEN World Tour Finals 2026
• 2nd place — $130,000 and 750 EWC Club Points
• 3rd place — $70,000 and 500 EWC Club Points
• 4th place — $50,000 and 300 EWC Club Points
• 5th–8th place — $37,500 each and 200 EWC Club Points
• 9th–32nd place — from $7,500 to $27,500 depending on final placement

All Esports World Cup 2026 TEKKEN 8 matches will be broadcast live on the tournament's official YouTube channel.

Following the conclusion of the championship, the world's top fighting game players will continue their season at CEO 2026, which will take place from August 14 to 16 in Orlando and hold Master status within the TEKKEN World Tour 2026.
