A large-scale Dota 2 tournament, BLAST SLAM VIII, kicks off tomorrow, with matches running from September 29 to October 11. The event is organized by the tournament operator BLAST. The total prize pool for the tournament is $750,000, with the winner taking home the main prize of $270,000. The decisive playoff matches will take place at the BLAST Arena Studios venue in Malta.
The competition format is divided into several consecutive stages. The GSL group stage will run from September 29 to October 2. Following this, on October 3, teams will play decider matches and the last chance stage. The decisive playoff stage will take place from October 8 to October 11 in a double-elimination format. All tournament matches will be played in a Bo3 format, with the exception of the grand final, which will be a Bo5.
The Ukrainian esports community will be widely represented at the tournament. In total, 10 Ukrainian players will participate, accounting for 12% of the total participants (81 players). Ukraine will be represented by Batyuk, Bignum, gotthejuice, kaori, Mira, Niku, No[o]ne-, pma, Riddys, and Yatoro.
The event starts tomorrow at 13:00 EEST with two simultaneous opening matches: PARIVISION vs. Level UP, and Team Spirit vs. Team Nemesis.
