Nintendo held a presentation celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, with most of the event dedicated to the remake of Ocarina of Time. The original game was released in 1997 and still sits at the top of Metacritic’s list of the highest-rated games in history.

Series producer Eiji Aonuma announced that the updated version will launch November 5 exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 for $/€60. According to the developer, the team did not aim to radically change the gameplay or visual style. The remake is intended to preserve the spirit of the original while introducing modern graphics and necessary improvements.

The most notable additions include a full sprint, jumping, and more convenient camera controls. A new tapestry will also appear in the pause menu, gradually filling in as players progress through the story.

The ocarina has received an upgrade as well. Players will be able to perform melodies not only by pressing buttons, but also by humming them into the console’s microphone. Music remains an important part of the experience, with one melody, for example, allowing players to change the time of day.

Nintendo also announced more Zelda-related surprises

A limited-edition Switch 2 featuring a Triforce design will be released soon, alongside new amiibo figures. Nintendo will also host symphonic concerts featuring music from the series and expand Zelda Notes in the Nintendo Switch App.
