Ukrainian studio Frogwares has officially delayed The Sinking City 2 to summer 2026. The game is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Alongside the announcement, the developers released a new gameplay trailer and shared more details about the sequel’s direction.
While the first game focused heavily on investigations and the atmosphere of a supernatural detective story, the sequel is now leaning toward classic survival horror. According to game director Oleksandr Hresko, the investigation mechanics will play a smaller role, while survival, combat, and exploration become the main focus. Players will be able to travel through the flooded city of Arkham both on foot and by boat.

The story takes place in a dark version of 1920s Arkham, a city nearly destroyed by a supernatural flood. The main character is Calvin Rafferty, an investigator of occult phenomena. After a failed ritual leaves his girlfriend Fay trapped in a mysterious endless sleep, he begins searching for a way to save her while facing cults, terrifying rituals, and creatures inspired by Lovecraftian horror.
The game will feature gunfights with 1920s-era weapons as well as melee combat. Among the enemies are the Slither, otherworldly creatures capable of possessing and reanimating dead bodies. The developers also promise scarce resources and a limited inventory system that will force players to carefully plan their actions. Optional investigations and puzzles will still be included, rewarding players with secrets, upgrades, and additional lore details.
