During the Opening Night Live presentation at this year's Gamescom, Ubisoft officially unveiled a new game in the renowned Tom Clancy universe — Rainbow Six: Tactics. The project is expected to be released in 2027.

According to the showcased trailer, the new title is a single-player tactical game with gameplay reminiscent of projects like XCOM. Players will command a squad of elite operators in intense turn-based battles.

The developers emphasize deep tactical planning and base development. The main features of the game include:

  • Organizing and executing synchronized assaults.
  • Utilizing destructible environments for tactical breaches.
  • Upgrading the headquarters between missions to unlock new skills and gear.
  • Gathering clues during missions to unravel a massive global conspiracy.

Rainbow Six: Tactics will be the first console release in the series since the launch of Rainbow Six Extraction in 2022. This announcement holds strategic significance for the company: following a turbulent 2026 marked by multiple project cancellations, studio closures, and mass layoffs, the return of one of Ubisoft's premier franchises aims to generate positive buzz and restore the gaming community's trust.
