According to insider Tom Henderson, Ubisoft has canceled Project Maverick, an extraction shooter set in the Far Cry universe that had been in development for several years. At the same time, the company has started work on a new ambitious project codenamed Kodiak.
Henderson says the new title will be an open world first person shooter focused on player interactions and emergent storytelling.

The report states that, following Maverick's cancellation, the replacement project has only recently moved beyond the concept stage. Ubisoft is expected to reuse some of the work completed for Maverick, but the extraction shooter elements have been removed entirely.
The report also provides an update on Far Cry 7, which is internally known as Blackbird. According to Henderson, the game has faced repeated internal delays and development issues.
However, the insider says the project is now "on a good path" and development is progressing smoothly. Ubisoft has yet to reveal when Far Cry 7 will be officially announced or released.
