The idea of a sequel to Prince of Persia The Lost Crown may not be completely dead after all. Despite strong critical reception, the game delivered relatively modest sales of around one million copies within a few months of launch, and in 2024 the development team was disbanded and reassigned to other projects.

However, things may have changed. According to rumors, Ubisoft has given the “green light” for the core team to reunite. They are now reportedly working together again and pitching new game ideas. While it remains unclear whether these plans involve a direct sequel, the reunion itself gives fans reason for cautious optimism.

The sudden shift may be linked to Ubisoft’s internal restructuring, which saw the creation of several Creative Houses with their own leadership. In this context, the publisher may have reconsidered its priorities after the positive reception of The Lost Crown.

Although the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake was cancelled, interest in the franchise remains strong. After being added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, the title surpassed three million players, and that number may have grown even further thanks to Game Pass.

There is still no confirmation that a sequel is in development. Even so, the team’s reported reunion is a promising sign for the future of the series.

As a Reminder, Physical edition of Red Dead Redemption coming to PS5.
