Valve Returns Overwatch to CS2 — System Available to Players Again

Valve unexpectedly brought back the Overwatch system in Counter-Strike 2. Overnight, the developers released an update giving a limited number of players access to a new version of the system.

Now, selected users can review match demos featuring suspicious moments and deliver their own verdict on player behavior. However, the Overwatch decision does not directly impact the suspect.

The primary goal of the updated system is to help the VACNet neural network better detect cheaters. Thus, real players' verdicts serve as additional training data for the anti-cheat system.

How can you check if you have gained access? A special Overwatch invitation will appear in the top-left corner of the CS2 main menu. Clicking it redirects the player to a separate page requiring Steam account authorization.

The return of Overwatch could mark an important step in Valve's fight against cheaters in CS2, especially if the data collected through the system genuinely helps VACNet identify offenders faster and more accurately.
