At the recent Game Developers Conference, Valve representatives shared fresh data showing how successful developers are on the Steam platform.
In 2025, 5,863 games generated more than $100,000 in revenue. For comparison, in 2020 there were just over 3,000 such games. This indicates steady growth in profitability for a wide range of developers.
Valve also responded to concerns about the store being “cluttered” with a huge number of new releases. The company relies on recommendation algorithms to “show the right games to the right buyers.”
In 2025, Steam users downloaded an incredible 100 exabytes of data (games, updates, etc.). On average, that equals 274 petabytes per day.
Valve also mentioned the global RAM shortage issue, which is affecting the production of their upcoming hardware, still planned for release in 2026.
Reminder: FaZe Clan may fail to qualify for a CS Major for the first time.
