Global Esports has unexpectedly announced the end of its nearly decade-long operations in esports. Despite enjoying their most successful season in 2026, winning the VCT Pacific Stage 2 title, and competing in the Masters and Champions tournaments, the organization has disbanded its VALORANT roster. The players are now free agents, and some are already receiving offers from other clubs.

According to the company's founder and CEO, Rushindra Sinha, this decision was made a year ago. During discussions with Riot Games regarding future plans in November 2025, management informed the developers that 2026 would more than likely be the organization's last year in the industry. Alongside its exit from esports, the company is undergoing a rebrand: moving forward, it will be known as GE Studios. The studio plans to fully focus on artificial intelligence technologies to power and amplify its future projects.

The departure of Global Esports will significantly impact the representation of South Asia and India, as the region loses its sole partnered representative in the league. A replacement is unlikely, as the number of partnered teams in the Pacific region will be limited to eight. At the same time, the VALORANT esports ecosystem is transitioning from a league structure to a tournament format in 2027. This opens the door for non-partnered teams, though they will face a difficult qualification path, competing for limited slots against teams from all over Asia and Oceania.

As the 2026 season comes to a close, most of the world's leading clubs have already decided on their futures. Prominent organizations like Sentinels and LOUD have confirmed their return as partners, while Global Esports remains one of the few teams to officially announce their departure from the discipline.
