A playable version of Minecraft has appeared on YouTube, allowing players to experience the game directly inside a video. The project was created by YouTubers Atlas Arcade and Animated Subtitles, who adapted Mojang's iconic sandbox for the platform. It works in both desktop browsers and the YouTube mobile app.

In this version, players must defeat the Ender Dragon. The challenge begins by destroying two End Crystals with snowballs before switching to a bow and firing arrows at the dragon. While it does not feature Minecraft's signature crafting mechanics, the achievement is still an impressive technical showcase.

The project relies on YouTube's 360 degree video technology combined with animated subtitles that recreate the game's HUD for the bow and snowballs. On PC, players use the W, A, S, and D keys along with the mouse to aim, while mobile users can tap the screen or tilt their device. Atlas Arcade also recommends increasing the playback speed for a tougher challenge.

This is not Atlas Arcade's first interactive YouTube project. The creator has previously released playable video versions of Doom, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Mario Kart using similar techniques.

Released in 2011, Minecraft has sold more than 400 million copies, making it the best selling video game of all time. Although it originally launched on PC, it has since been ported to nearly every major platform. YouTube can now be added to that list in a unique way.

Minecraft and YouTube have shared a close connection since the game's beta launched in 2009. Many of today's biggest gaming creators built their audiences through Minecraft Let's Play videos. To celebrate that history, 2025's A Minecraft Movie included cameo appearances from well known Minecraft creators such as DanTDM, Aphmau, Mumbo Jumbo, LDShadowLady, and Valkyrae.

As a Reminder, Leak Hints at New World of Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons Crossover.
