MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls successfully debuted on the esports stage at the Evo France 2026 tournament, which became part of the Arc World Tour 2026 (AWT 2026) series. Despite initial concerns regarding game balance, Spider-Man's dominance, and general issues within the tag-team fighting genre amidst the struggles of 2XKO, the French tournament proved the game's competitive potential. Thanks to active developer support and AWT prize pools, the discipline is attracting more and more strong players, forming its own professional community.
Atir "Zando" Yosef, known for his performances in Guilty Gear Strive, became the winner and first-ever Evo champion for MARVEL Tōkon. After losing in the semifinals to player YMST, Zando dropped to the losers bracket, where he brilliantly defeated DBFZ veterans Nitro and INZEM. In the lower bracket final, he snatched a victory from Slash, and in the grand finals, he completely dominated YMST, reset the bracket, and claimed the championship title.

The tournament stood out for its good game balance and variety of character choices. Spider-Man's total presence in team compositions shifted towards the growing popularity of Magik, yet this did not disrupt the overall balance. Players actively used various characters: YMST played Hulk, Yosep competed with Peni Parker, and Slash perfectly showcased Deadpool's abilities. Touch-of-death situations occurred only when multiple characters were hit simultaneously.
Right before the tournament, the developers released a trailer for Phoenix Cyclops, who will soon appear in the game, and immediately after the grand finals, Arc System Works announced the remaining characters for the Season 1 DLC:
The next major AWT qualifier for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will be the Battle Coliseum 2026 tournament, taking place in São Paulo, Brazil, from November 20 to 22, 2026.
